Legacy notes
Three addresses on this domain still carry citations from 2007–2009. Each has a page about what stood there, written as a period document.

These pages exist because links from 2007 onward still point at their addresses, and a reader who follows one deserves an explanation rather than an error. They describe what the software of that period did and what became of it. They do not instruct: the operating systems, drivers and applications involved are between fifteen and nineteen years out of support, and every one of these pages says so in its header.

Disc images as an archiving format, 2009
The page at this address in 2009 was promotional copy for a disc-copying product. What is worth recording instead is the archival idea underneath it: why people made disc images at all, and what replaced the practice.

I/O device error 0x8007045D, as asked in 2007
A Windows Vista help thread from February 2007, preserved as a period document: what the error meant on the hardware of the time, what the thread concluded, and why none of it is current advice.

Sidebar gadgets and the galleries that held them, 2007
A February 2007 note about two new WinCustomize galleries is now a record of a whole distribution model for small desktop software — and of what happened to the things people uploaded to it.
